Transportable homes: what's involved?

Transportable homes are becoming a popular option, whether you're adding a second dwelling, making the most of a larger section, or looking for a more affordable way into a quality home.

We specialise in transportable homes, and we manage the whole process from start to finish. Here's how it usually works.

1. Choosing a home

Some clients come to us with a home they've already found. Others want help finding the right one. Either way, we'll look at the condition of the home, what work it's likely to need, and whether it suits your site.

2. Checking your site

Before anything moves, we look at the site itself: access for trucks, ground conditions, services, and council requirements. This step helps avoid surprises on moving day.

3. Consents and planning

Relocating a home usually needs a building consent, and sometimes a resource consent. We help you work out what's needed and pull the documentation together.

4. Renovating and upgrading

Many transportable homes need some work before or after they're moved. That might be anything from new cladding or joinery to a full kitchen and bathroom upgrade. We'll help you decide what to do and when it makes the most sense.

5. Transport and installation

We coordinate transport, site works, foundations and the logistics of getting the home safely onto its new site. Then we reconnect services and make sure everything is set up properly.

6. Finishing

Once the home is in place, we finish the details, such as decks, steps, landscaping and any final touches, so it feels like it was always meant to be there.

Is a transportable home right for you?

It can be a great option, but it depends on your site, your budget and what you want from the home. If you're considering one, get in touch or call Dan on 027 391 6157, and we'll talk you through what's involved.
